Welcome back to part seven of our eight-week Bible study titled New Beginnings. We truly hope that all of you are finding a warm place to be. This is a course that is taught to new believers but fear not, those that are already believers, it never hurts to have a refresher course.

Just a reminder there are work sheets for those that wish to keep notes. You can request them off our website, or Facebook.

We have learned about salvation, publicly declaring your faith, sharing the faith, studying your bible, and last week we learned how to pray. This week we are going to learn how to be “Faithful to a Church”.

Just curious, have you started putting time aside to spend with God?

Jesus personally established the church while He was on earth to unite Christians as a spiritual family (read Matthew 16:17-18) Who was speaking when the words “I will build my church” were spoken. Matthew 16:17–18

So correct Jesus was speaking when the words “I will build my church” were spoken.

The word church means “called out ones”. The church is made up of people who have been called out to follow Jesus. The term church is used to refer to all believers but is more often used to denote a local group of believers.

Why be Faithful to a Church?

A church is a group of baptized believers voluntarily joining for instruction, fellowship, worship, and service (Acts 2:42-47).

Through Your local church you receive instruction. Jesus has given spiritual leaders to the church (Ephesians 4:11). According to Ephesians 4:12-14, why has God given leaders to the church?

God gave us leaders for the church as outline in Ephesians 4:12-14 for perfecting of saints, work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ. We received leaders to instruct us, teach us, lead us in worship and service. Ephesians 4:11–14

Through Your Local Church You have the Privilege of FellowshipGod has placed individuals in families for their care, protection, fellowship, and development. You need the church for all the reasons you need a family and many more. According to Hebrews 10:24-25, why do we need the fellowship of the church?     Hebrews 10:24–25

We need the fellowship of the church according to Hebrews 10:24-25 because we need to be accountable to one another, lean on one another, and to be able to confess our sins to one another.

Though Your Local Church You Meet to Worship. What are some of the things that happen when you worship? (Colossians 3:16)

We are letting the words of God, His Wisdom, teachings and reprimanding one another in our singing with grace in our hearts to the Lord.

Through Your Local Church You Have the Opportunities for Service. The church is the proper avenue to serve God. God has given you special gifts and abilities in order to serve. (Romans 12:6-8)

Jesus taught in Mathew 28:19 that the church mission is to “Therefore go and Make Disciples of all nations.

Matthew 28:19

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

This involves:

Sharing eternal life with the world                                                                                               Baptizing new Believers                                                                                                                Teaching the bible                                                                                                                           The joy of ministering in Christ’s name                                                                                 Giving your money, time and talents
