I hate to be the bearer of bad news but today I have some. No matter whether you are a believer or not we are all sinners, WE ARE ALL SINNERS!
We are concentrating on the biblical scripture from the book of Romans, chapter 3, verses 23:
“23 For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God”, Romans 3:23
For all have sinned
The first part, “For all have sinned”, is a known statement that we were born sinners and we attribute this all the way back to Adam & Eve. Genesis tells us about the original sin:
- Genesis 3:1-7
- Genesis 3:12-13
- God told Adam & Eve not to eat from the tree
- Satan convinced them to eat from the tree
- They not only disobeyed God (Sin) they tried to hide from God (Sin)
We are all sinners thanks to Adam. This is our nature and no matter what we try to accomplish we will still be a sinner.
Repent our sins;
- Acts 3:19
- 1 John 1:9
Trust Him as our Savior and Lord
- Psalm 9:10
We be holy as He is holy
- 1 Peter 1:16
We become like Him in all ways
- 1 John 3:16
Problem is that we can’t meet these demands and therefore we fall short as Paul writes in Romans 2:12:
- Romans 2:12
The last part of the scripture” Glory of God” means in plain English that we didn’t match up to God’s expectations.
God’s goal is to bring himself glory because he is the only one worthy. God’s glory can be translated to
Man praising Him
David proclaimed praise to God when he wrote in Psalm 115:1
- Psalm 115:1
- Luke 2:14
Where the heavenly host of angels gave God all the credit at the birth of Jesus when they sang.
Paul writes in Romans 3:24,
- Romans 3:24
Jesus died on the cross to give us all salvation and eternal life. All we must do is believe and ask God to save us to see the separation between us and God which is our sin.
So those of us that are believers, we need to reaffirm our belief in God. We need to let God know that we are serious. That we are serious to the point of using John Fogerty’s Lyrics “Put me in the game coach”.
Believers are commanded by God which we refer to as the great Commission:
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world”, Matthew 28:19-20
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you”, Matthew 25: 35-40
If we are living, and believing in God, our work is simply basic. We are to keep believing, following God’s commandments, witness to others, and use our skills to serve God
No one is perfect, that job was taken by Jesus so that means we are and will always be sinners. It’s what we do about it that matters most.
